15.05.2018

Prime Minister of the French Republic Edouard Philippe sent a congratulatory message to Nikol Pashinyan on his election as Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia.

“I offer you my congratulations and best wishes on your election as Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia.

France and Armenia entertain a particularly hectic bilateral agenda based on historically deeply rooted ties and a privileged political dialogue, which is reflected in the relations between governments, parliaments, local authorities and civil societies of our two countries.

Today more than ever, France stands by Armenia to see your country all the way through its drive for consolidation of State institutions and the rule of law.

As you may know, France is working within the Minsk Group in search of a peaceful and negotiated settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. We are keen to continue our efforts aimed at reaching a resolution to the conflict.

The recent signing of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement between the European Union and Armenia, in which France has played an active role, brings new dynamics that I hope will help improve the business climate, strengthen economic ties between our two countries, and promote bilateral trade.

The Francophonie Summit due to be held in Yerevan this October offers a unique opportunity to strengthen ties between our two countries and promote the French language in Armenia, particularly through the relocation of the French University and the French School after Anatole France, as well as by completing the Charles Aznavour Center in Yerevan to make of it a showcase of French culture in the Armenian capital. France will support Armenia with its share of participation to ensure the success of the Summit,” the French Premier’s message reads.
