Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan sent a congratulatory message to French President Emmanuel Macron on the occasion of the National Day. The message says:
"Honorable Mr. President, dear Emmanuel,
On behalf of the Armenian people and myself, I warmly congratulate you and the fraternal people of France on the occasion of the National Day, July 14.
235 years ago, this day was marked in world history not only as the victory of the just struggle of the French people for the supremacy of the values of freedom, equality and fraternity, but also as the day of the victory of universal values, human rights and democracy.
Inspired by those high values of universal importance, many Armenians who survived the Armenian Genocide and took refuge in France created and even sacrificed their lives for the sake of France, its freedom and its professed values. In this context, I would like to express my gratitude for giving credit to the Armenians at the highest state level in France, among whom was the hero of the Resistance Movement, Missak Manouchian, whose remains were transferred to the Pantheon in February of this year by your decision.
We highly value the special relations between our two states, which are anchored on sincere friendship that has overcome the trials of centuries, as well as on solid civilizational and value foundations. The close high-level political dialogue and the dynamically developing cooperation in all spheres testify to the nature and content of those relations, giving the opportunity to outline the ways of developing strategic cooperation between our states.
I would like to express my special gratitude for your decisive commitment and direct role in standing by the Armenian people to overcome the challenges facing Armenia, making continuous efforts to achieve lasting peace and stability in our region.
Taking this opportunity, I reaffirm my invitation to host you in Armenia on a state visit in September of this year.
Congratulating you once again and sending you the best wishes for peace, development and prosperity on this festive day symbolizing the unity and heroic history of France, please accept, Mr. President, the assurance of my deepest respect.
Brotherly, Nikol Pashinyan."
