PM receives President of World Information Technology and Services Alliance

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received Yvonne Chiu, the President of the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) and Jim Poisant, the Secretary General of WITSA. Issues related to the organization of the World Congress on Information Technologies (WCIT) to be held in Yerevan in 2019 were discussed during the meeting.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of holding the Congress in our country and underscored that the Government of Armenia will do its best to organize and hold it at high level. Noting that the IT sector will be among his government’s priorities, Nikol Pashinyan assured that this sector should become a driving force behind the economy.
Nikol Pashinyan and Yvonne Chiu agreed to set up a joint working group responsible for proper organization of the Congress. Ms. Chiu emphasized that the World Information Technology and Services Alliance is keen to engage in close cooperation with the Government of Armenia and presented Taiwan’s Congress organizing experience.
More than 4500 delegates from 80 countries are expected to attend the event.
