National security, normal development of armed forces is a top priority - PM introduces newly appointed Security Council Secretary

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan introduced newly appointed RA Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan to the leadership of the Security Council.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the Security Council is the authority that defines the main vectors of the Government’s defense policy. “The definition of this sentence highlights the role of the Security Council, the staff of which should act as a brain center that gives impetus to defense sector policies,” Nikol Pashinyan said, adding that this body stands above the government’s routine problems: it collects information about the emerging threats and offers solutions. The Premier expressed the hope that the Council will live up to the task and will offer efficient solutions in tune with the modern requirements and standards.

Armen Grigoryan thanked the Prime Minister for confidence. “I am convinced that the process of developing the security policy will be brought up to a new qualitative level. Armenia is facing challenges that call for political solutions. I am confident that the team will be able to fulfill its tasks, upgrade Armenia’s security level by finding adequate solutions to existing challenges and problems,” the newly appointed Security Council Secretary said.

Prime Minister Pashinyan instructed to prepare for a Security Council meeting in order to discuss the country’s defense policy and make important decisions.

“National security, normal development of armed forces is a top priority, and we must do everything to ensure the normal development of the armed forces, accurately assess the existing challenges and take effective countermeasures. The citizens of Armenia should be confident that the Government has the necessary toolkit to ensure the country’s full security. We have all necessary resources to develop an effective policy in this sphere,” Nikol Pashinyan said. The Prime Minister emphasized that either the shortfalls should be put on record as problems will be further aggravated, if concealed.

“It is important for us to diagnose the existing problems, and find prompt and effective solutions. The Security Council has a crucial role to play in this respect. I wish you every success in the exercise of your functions,” the Premier concluded.
