Prime Minister Pashinyan, Swiss Ambassador discuss development of Armenian-Swiss cooperation

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received Lukas Gasser, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation to the Republic of Armenia.
Highlighting the development of the Armenian-Swiss relationships, the Prime Minister said the two countries boast high-level political intercourse. He considered it necessary to intensify efforts with a view to adding momentum to economic cooperation based on the existing potentialities. The head of the Armenian government thanked the Swiss authorities for voicing a clear stance on the Armenian Genocide and for close cooperation on international platforms.
The Swiss Ambassador congratulated Prime Minister Pashinyan on assuming office and conveyed the readiness of his country’s government to further develop and build on the bilateral ties. Lukas Gasser reaffirmed the Swiss President’s willingness to attend the upcoming Francophonie Summit in Yerevan and expressed confidence that it would be organized at high level.
Coming to economic cooperation, the Ambassador advised that a number of Swiss companies are interested in entering the Armenian market and are currently looking into Armenia’s business environment and investment opportunities. Lukas Gasser said he had already traveled to Meghri FEZ with a view to getting a first-hand view of its opportunities and introducing them to Swiss business people. The Ambassador deemed as quite prospective the ongoing cooperation in different spheres, inclusive of industry, tourism, pharmaceuticals and information technologies.
During the meeting, the Premier was briefed on the projects and events to be co-hosted by the Swiss Embassy and the Armenia-Switzerland Chamber of Commerce. In conclusion, Nikol Pashinyan and Lukas Gasser discussed regional issues.
