Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received Denmark Statistical Service Director Jorgen Elmeskoff.
The Prime Minister highlighted the role of official statistics in the effective functioning of the governance system, in the decision-making process and emphasized the need for closer cooperation between Armenia’s Statistical Committee and the Danish Statistical Service in both bilateral and multilateral formats.
Noting that each platform is important for professional contacts and exchange of experience, Nikol Pashinyan expressed conviction that the Yerevan conference will be useful in terms of strengthening cooperation and updating the statistical system of Armenia.
The Premier stressed that the National Statistical Committee of Armenia faces the task of being objective and independent, which in turn will enhance the level of public confidence. Nikol Pashinyan pointed out that this is one of his government’s priorities.
Noting that they have been effectively cooperating with Armenian partners for a long time now, Jorgen Elmeskoff pointed to the need of introducing new standards for application of statistical tools in order to provide objective and impartial statistics.
During the meeting, reference was made to the reforms underway in the Statistical Committee of Armenia.
