Chancellor Angela Merkel of the Federal Republic of Germany has arrived in Armenia on an official visit. This is the first-ever visit paid by a German Chancellor to Armenia since Armenia’s independence.
Angela Merkel was welcomed by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at Zvartnots Airport. After the official welcoming ceremony, the German Chancellor traveled to Tsitsernakaberd Memorial to pay tribute to the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
Top-level Armenian-German talks will then be held, headed by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Chancellor Angela Merkel.
