Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Armenia Woo Yoon-keun.
Greeting the Ambassador, Nikol Pashinyan said, “We are eager to ensure continued development of Armenian-Korean relations as we want to implement an economic revolution based on your country’s experience.”
The Acting Premier emphasized that the Armenian Government is interested in attracting investment from the Republic of Korea and implementing joint programs. Noting that Armenia has unilaterally removed the visa requirement for Korean citizens, Nikol Pashinyan expressed the hope that it can help strengthen ties between the citizens of both countries and boost tourist flows. Speaking about the ongoing political developments on the Korean peninsula, Nikol Pashinyan praised the measures taken to reduce tensions.
Thankful for a warm welcome, Woo Yoon-keun conveyed warm greetings on behalf of the President of the Republic of Korea. The Ambassador assured of Korean government’s readiness to share their long experience of economic reform. He stressed that they are likewise interested in the development of bilateral economic cooperation. The Korean diplomat expressed confidence that the Investment Promotion and Mutual Protection Agreement, due to be signed on 19 October in Yerevan, will help expand trade exchanges between the two countries.
Woo Yoon-keun advised that several Korean businessmen have arrived in Armenia to explore Armenia’s investment climate as they wish to implement investment programs in Armenia. The Ambassador thanked Nikol Pashinyan for supporting the settlement of the conflict between the two Koreas.
Nikol Pashinyan expressed confidence that the aforementioned agreement would result in enhanced economic ties and increased trade turnover. The Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia congratulated the Republic of Korea for their first-ever attendance of the Summit of the International Organization of La Francophonie as an observer and thanked the Korean government for providing technical assistance to our country, as well as for supporting those Syrian Armenians who have found refuge in Armenia.
The parties availed themselves of the opportunity to exchange views on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Nikol Pashinyan thanked the Republic of Korea for abiding by a balanced position on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.
