Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received a group of heads of UN organizations in Armenia, led by UN Resident Coordinator Shombi Sharp.
Stressing the importance of cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the UN agencies, the Prime Minister highly valued the joint projects implemented in our country. Noting that the Armenian government has launched an ambitious program of reforms, Nikol Pashinyan considered it necessary to combine the Government’s reforms with the UN programs in order to effectively implement the planned activities.
Shombi Sharp praised the Armenian government’s proactive policy, noting that the UN is ready to work more closely with the Armenian partners in a bid to promote the planned activities and reforms. The representatives of the United Nations Development Program, the United Nations Children’s Fund, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the United Nations Population Fund, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the Director of the International Organization for Migration, the Executive Director of the World Health Organization, the Head of the Armenia Office of the UN Department of Global Communications, the National Coordinator of the International Labor Organization, the Cooperation Adviser to the UN Resident Coordinator and the UN Peace and Development Adviser briefed the Prime Minister on their ongoing activities and relations with Armenian government agencies.
The speakers addressed issues related to the modernization of public administration, cooperation in the fields of agriculture, industry, healthcare, tourism, infrastructure, regional development and in other areas.
