Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a consultative meeting to discuss the process of introducing a new food supply system in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia. The meeting was attended by senior staff from the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Armed Forces, led by Minister of Defense David Tonoyan and Chief of General Staff Artak Davtyan, as well as representatives of catering companies.
Opening the meeting, Prime Minister Pashinyan said: “Today we are going to discuss the improvements underway in the Armed Forces catering system. We can see tangible changes here, which were given a positive feedback from both the military and the public at large. We will discuss the current situation, the way this process is being organized, and will try to identify and address the problems, if any. Also, we need to see whether the applicable pricing policies meet our strategic estimates, and their compliance with the preliminary agreements reached during the implementation of this system. At this point, we are working with six companies that supply food for 7 thousand people. So, let us get down to discussing the intermediate results and making long-term decisions.”
The meeting addressed a number of issues regarding the new food supply system for military service personnel. It was noted that about 7,000 servicemen in 20 military units are currently benefiting from the new system, and interim results indicate a positive progress in the process. The meeting discussed further steps and actions to introduce the new catering system in the Armed Forces.
Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that food supplies should be considered as an integral part of the combat readiness of the Armed Forces, and the process should be organized at the proper level.
“Our soldier should be the focus of our attention, and we must make sure that soldiers get what the state provides. We definitely have to go this way and turn this system into a strong and established institution. The issue of supplies under military conditions is the most important here, and we must patiently work on its accurate organization,” the Prime Minister said.
The Head of Government gave a number of instructions and, in the context of the effective organization of the process, noted the importance of active communication and constant joint work between the Government and the private sector.
