Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended a ceremonious event dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Vazgen Sargsyan Military University.
Congratulating those present on the Anniversary, the Prime Minister noted, “The University was established at a time when the newborn Armenian Armed Forces and the Artsakh Defense Army had triumphed in the victorious Artsakh liberation war. This institution has seen the Armenian people’s glorious victory in the liberation struggle, and it should be strengthened as the backbone of the Armenian statehood, our national security; it should stand firmly in the defense of the Armenian people, the Republic of Armenia, and the Republic of Artsakh.
Thousands of graduates of the Military University have performed glorious service in the Armed Forces. The Military University has had many glorious days during this time, also had difficult days, and the time has come for us to set new challenges. And on these new issues, I would also like to address a message to the students, faculty, and servants on this festive occasion.
I have had the opportunity to say it several times that we are aware of several aspects of the military task, the power aspect, the psychological aspect, but I would like to emphasize that throughout mankind’s history the military art has been and continues to be an intellectual activity, if not the most intellectual. Many technological innovations are being used in everyday life, but they were originally created as military tools, an integral part of security. And I think that at this stage, when the Armenian Armed Forces have entered a completely new phase in the development of armaments and techniques, the development of combat capabilities, intellectual work should become one of the most important features of our Armed Forces.
When we say that the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia should be capable of fighting to the highest international standards, we mean first of all that the Armenian Army must be intellectually capable; we mean that the Armenian Army must be among the most intellectuals in the world. This is our primary task that we should solve together. I would like to give a few examples to show the promotion of the civilization of military action.
Even today people use words such as tactics, stance, target words in their daily work in any political, economic activity. They are used in general, with no context whatsoever with military action. We use them daily in government meetings, in solving economic, social, educational issues. Consequently, this aspect of military work should be emphasized more and more strongly, and military educational institutions should also play a leading role in our education system.
Dear attendees,
I want to emphasize the presence of women among students and graduates today. More than a dozen women have graduated from the University and are currently serving in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia. Today we can see female representatives among the students, and this is definitely a welcome process, since we must tap the nation’s potential not only in the economy, education, but also in the security of our country and in raising the efficiency of our army.”
Prime Minister Pashinyan wished the military ever new victories that will make us worthy of the martyrs of the Artsakh war and the victims of the Armenian Genocide; victories through which we can live up to the commitment assumed before the generations. “And therefore, long live the freedom of the Armenian people! Long live the Republic of Armenia! Long live the Republic of Artsakh! Long live the Armenian Army and Vazgen Sargsyan Military University! Long live we and our children who live and will live in a free and happy Armenia, in a free and happy Artsakh,” the Prime Minister said.
Then the Prime Minister laid flowers at Vazgen Sargsyan’s monument, paying tribute to his memory.
