On February 22, 2020, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and Artsakh Republic President Bako Sahakyan held a consultative meeting in Stepanakert to discuss ways of enhancing the combat readiness of the Defense Army, issues related to Armenia-Artsakh military cooperation and the situation on the borders.

Both sides stressed the importance of ensuring close cooperation between the two Armenian states in the sphere of army construction. Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia David Tonoyan, Head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia Artak Davtyan, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Artsakh Karen Abrahamyan and other senior dignitaries attended the meeting.
