Chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the Government held another discussion of anti-crisis measures to curb the adverse economic impact of COVID-19.

The Premier was briefed on the progress in the ongoing social programs. Assistance is being provided under the 7th program. The lists of the 8th program beneficiaries are being finalized. The application procedures for the 9th and 10th activities are being worked out and will start to function from next week after expedited circulation and approval. It was noted that economic assistance measures are also in an active process, and the number of applications submitted by business entities indicates a positive trend in the programs.

Reference was next made of measures designed to stimulate investment. Mechanisms for implementing investment programs on the principle of cooperation between the state and the private sector, tools for assessing risks and guarantees and prospects for developing the capital market were discussed during the exchange of views that followed.

The Premier emphasized that the activities meant to foster investment should be considered in terms of ensuring a long-term result. “These programs should not only seek to encourage investors, but also to trigger economic growth, infrastructure development and improved business culture. An important component of anti-crisis measures should be the presentation of prospects to people, an idea of what opportunities could be available in the future,” Nikol Pashinyan said.

The Head of Government instructed to finalize the draft, considering the proposals and recommendations voiced at today’s meeting and submit it for further discussion. New ideas on improving the state property management efficiency were discussed during the meeting.
