Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended the opening ceremony of the newly constructed Argavand-Shirak road in Yerevan. The event was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan, Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan, Asian Development Bank Vice President Shixin Chen and other officials.
A contract of 26 million USD was signed on July 16, 2019 between Yerevan Municipality and "Lantina Engineering Construction" (Spain) company for the construction of the road section. The works started on September 6, 2019.
The Argavand-Shirak road is part of the western ring road of Yerevan, it also connects the Malatia-Sebastia and Shengavit administrative districts of Yerevan.
The total length of the road is 2.7 km, and the average width is 26 m. The road section also includes a 252-meter-long, 28-meter-wide metal bridge over the Hrazdan River, as well as a one-overpass at the crossing of Isakov-Babajanyan streets. A circular motion traffic was introduced at the intersection with Shirak Street. All the existing conduits in the impact zone of the road have been moved, underground communication pipes have been installed under the sidewalks. Exterior lighting systems are equipped with LED energy-saving luminaires.
Within the framework of the construction of the Argavand-Shirak road section, compensation was provided to 26 households, the amount of which amounted to about 265 million AMD.
