Today, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received the President of the International Weightlifting Federation, Mohammed Jalood, and the President of the European Weightlifting Federation, Antonio Conflitti. Note that this year on April 15-23, the European Weightlifting Championship 2023 will be held at Karen Demirchyan Sport and Concert Complex in Yerevan. The Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister Arayik Harutyunyan is the chairman of the interdepartmental commission for the preparation and organization of the championship.

The Prime Minister, welcoming the Presidents of the two federations, noted that Armenia is hosting the European Weightlifting Championship 2023 with honor, and thanks the International and European Weightlifting Federations for supporting the idea. "Armenia has invested maximum efforts to hold the European Weightlifting Championship in the best possible way. We expect it to be impressive and full of success," said Nikol Pashinyan and emphasized that Armenia is ready to host the World Weightlifting Championship 2024.

The Presidents of the International and European Weightlifting Federations thanked the Armenian government headed by the Prime Minister, the Olympic Committee, the organizing committee for the large-scale work done and expressed confidence that the championship will be held at a high level. Mohammed Jalood noted that, taking into account the accumulated experience, Armenia can really claim to host the World Weightlifting Championship 2024, for which it has already applied. Antonio Conflitti assessed the cooperation with Armenia as effective and emphasized the high level of preparations.

The interlocutors discussed issues related to popularization of weightlifting and sports in general. The Prime Minister emphasized that the development of sports, the promotion of a healthy lifestyle is a strategic direction for the Armenian government, and targeted reforms and programs are being implemented in that direction.

The interlocutors exchanged ideas on the prospects of deepening cooperation.
