Today, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan toured Yerevan and got acquainted with a number of completed and ongoing projects in the administrative districts of the city.
The first stop of the Prime Minister was in the Shengavit administrative district, where the construction works of the sports school for cycling and Olympic Youth Sports School of sport, artistic gymnastics and acrobatics named after Hrant Shahinyan are underway. They started in 2022, and the completion of construction works is scheduled for 2024.
2 buildings are being built, as well as a 2m wide bicycle track around the 220m perimeter of the building. The project also includes improvement of the area of 1727 square meters. The total cost of the project is more than 1 billion 62 million AMD, which was allocated by the Government. 65% of the works have been completed. The area of the artistic gymnastics and acrobatics building is 1424 square meters. It includes a 1076 square meter hall, a grandstand with 250 seats, dressing rooms and bathrooms, a cafeteria, a dance floor, administrative and support rooms, a platform that can serve as a museum of artistic gymnastics, and during competitions, an observation platform for guests with 20-30 people/seat. It also includes a feng shui platform with access to a flat roof.
The area of the two-story building of the cycling sports school is 1280 square meters. On the first floor, there are 9 classrooms for 70-90 students with exits to the bicycle track, dressing rooms and bathrooms, physical training hall, administrative and auxiliary rooms. A cycling museum is planned on the second floor, and a 75 kW photovoltaic plant on the roof. The project is implemented within the framework of the "Construction of sports facilities" measure.
Afterwards, Nikol Pashinyan visited Erebuni administrative district, got acquainted with the renovation works of primary school No. 6. The works started in August 2020 and are already in the final stage. The school will open its doors on October 1. The cost of building the school was 1 billion 211 million AMD. Currently, the number of students is 768. The money for the acquisition of the necessary property for the school, 26.6 million AMD, was allocated from the reserve fund of the Armenian government.
The Prime Minister got acquainted with the reconstruction works of the National Center for Mental Health Care in Nubarashen administrative district, which started in 2021 and is expected to be completed in 2025. The center with a capacity of 425 beds is located on a plot of land with an area of about 7 hectares, in 9 buildings (clinical, administrative, auxiliary). The center was in bad condition, the infrastructures and equipment of the buildings needed to be modernized. Based on the global experience of organizing medical care during psychiatric services and the need to bring the medical care and service provided in Armenia in line with international standards, the modernization of the service is being carried out, which includes reconstruction of the existing buildings - about 18,000 square meters, construction of 3 annexes and a new building (narcology department) - about 1423 square meters, provision of modern medical equipment, furniture, accessories. The contract value of the project is 4.6 billion AMD, which was allocated by the Government.
The Head of the Government also followed the reconstruction works of the National Center of Infectious Diseases in Nork Marash administrative district, which started last year. The building conditions of the center with a capacity of 230 beds were in poor condition, the building's infrastructure, as well as the equipment, needed to be modernized. The following modernization works are being carried out: reconstruction of the existing 4-story building B - about 4835 square meters, construction of new three-story annex building (about 800 square meters) and two-story laboratory building (about 700 square meters), provision of modern medical equipment, furniture, accessories (including laboratory and intensive care). The contract value of the construction of the infection center is about 2.5 billion AMD. In 2025, the newly built infection center will be equipped with medical equipment, accessories and furniture, for which 450 million AMD will be allocated. In the third quarter of 2025, it is planned to put the newly built infection center into operation.
Nikol Pashinyan visited the Nor Nork administrative district, got acquainted with the repair works of kindergarten No. 109. At present, the design works of improving the yard of the kindergarten are underway. The cost of the project implemented within the framework of the Yerevan energy efficiency program is more than 418 million AMD. The project is being implemented by the loan from the European Investment Bank and a grant from the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environmental Partnership Fund, the Green Climate Fund. Within the framework of the project, major repair works aimed at energy efficiency and energy saving were carried out.
In the Nor Nork administrative district, the works of replacing the elevator of Bakunts 5 building were also presented to the Prime Minister. The contract value of the project is 10 million AMD. It was also noted that during the period of 2019-2022, 1041 elevators were replaced in the capital, and another 500 are planned for this year. According to the law "On the management of multi-apartment building", the elevator belongs to the apartment owners, i.e. the residents, with the right of shared ownership. Taking into account the social importance of the problem and the safety of citizens, the city administration initiated the project. In the technical description of the elevator replacement project, as a mandatory requirement, a number of standards are defined. The brand new elevators being installed are adapted to the use of people with vision, hearing and locomotor problems.
The next stop of the Head of the Government was the Arabkir administrative district, where he observed the major repair works of kindergarten No. 22. Currently, the improvement works of the kindergarten yard are underway. The contract value of the project is 316 million 644 thousand AMD. The contract value of the improvement of the yard is more than 103 million AMD, the completion is scheduled by the end of the year.
In Ajapnyak administrative district, Nikol Pashinyan got acquainted with the construction works of primary school No. 122, which started in November 2020. The construction of the school is in the final stage. The opening is scheduled for November 1 of this year. The cost of building the school was 1 billion 872 million AMD. The number of students of the school is 748. 23.4 million AMD was allocated from the reserve fund of the Armenian government for purchasing necessary property for the school.
The Prime Minister also visited primary school No. 111 of Ajapnyak administrative district, the construction of which started in January 2021 and are already over. The opening is scheduled for October 1 of this year. The cost of building the school was 1 billion 584 million AMD. The school is designed for 432 students, currently the number of students is 273. 19.9 million AMD was allocated from the reserve fund of the government to purchase the necessary property.
At the Yerevan youth and children tennis and badminton sports school of the same administrative district, the Head of the Government got acquainted with the finished works of the major repair of the "Kilikia" gymnasium. The total area of the building is 1708.1 square meters. The total cost of the project is 693 million 694 thousand AMD. The gymnasium building includes a multifunctional gymnasium with 6 badminton courts, combined with 2 tennis courts, as well as changing rooms, showers, a sauna, and an administrative area. The project was implemented within the framework of the "Support to communities for improving the building conditions of sports facilities" measure.
In the Kentron administrative district, the Prime Minister first got acquainted with the progress of the renovation works of the Sos Sargsyan National Theater, which started at the end of 2018 and is planned to be completed in the spring of 2024. Interior finishing works are currently underway. New furniture and audio equipment were purchased from the funds of the state budget in the amount of 326.9 million AMD.
Then, Nikol Pashinyan got acquainted with the works of construction of fountains and improvement of the area near Saint Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral. The 2,500 square meter area adjacent to the Cathedral is being improved by the Yerevan City Hall. It will stand out with new solutions, will form an environment consistent with the given area. Within the framework of the project, 290 m of water supply line, 700-800 m of internal network were laid, 7 observation wells, 2 pumping stations were built. In the recreation area there will be pools, a fountain complex, benches will be installed, and an energy-saving external lighting system will be installed. The cost of the project is about 349 million AMD.
The last stop of the Prime Minister was the primary school No. 33 named after Mikael Nalbandyan, where a gymnasium is being built. Construction works started in June 2022. About 70% of the works have been completed. It is implemented within the framework of the "Construction/reconstruction of new gymnasiums of educational institutions providing public education" measure.
