Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received US Under Secretary of State Uzra Zeya.

The Prime Minister welcomed Mrs. Zeya's visit and emphasized the importance of consistent development of Armenia-US multi-sectoral cooperation. In the context of bilateral cooperation, Nikol Pashinyan emphasized the continuous support of the US in the effective promotion of democratic reforms in our country, particularly in the fields of justice, fight against corruption, effective administration, public services, police and other areas. The Prime Minister noted that the development of democracy is of strategic and priority importance for the Armenian government.

According to the Under Secretary of State, the US administration attaches great importance to the development and strengthening of cooperation with Armenia, and the technical and financial support for the development of democratic institutions to our country will be continuous. Uzra Zeya considered significant the steps taken in recent years towards the development of democracy in Armenia and emphasized the importance of programs and reforms aimed at the protection of human rights, freedom of speech, justice, and the fight against corruption.

The interlocutors discussed issues related to the above-mentioned directions, as well as further cooperation in the field of education. Prime Minister Pashinyan referred to the Government's programs of 300 schools and 500 kindergartens, as well as the Academic City. The implementation of new educational programs between Armenia and the USA was emphasized.

Reference was made to the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The Under Secretary of State emphasized that the United States will continue to contribute to the establishment of real peace between the two countries and the provision of security and stability in the region.

Issues related to the humanitarian problems of people forcibly displaced from Nagorno Karabakh and the measures of the Armenian government to solve them were discussed. In this context, the continued support of the international community was highlighted.
