Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan with his wife, Anna Hakobyan, met the schoolchildren and physical education teachers participating in the final round of the "Armenian Prime Minister's Cup" amateur cross-country cycling tournament in the Arevik recreation area of Sevan and talked with them around a campfire.
The tournament, the goal of which is to promote the popularization of cycling and healthy lifestyle in the republic, and the promotion of physical education and sports among schoolchildren, will be held on September 29 in Gegharkunik region, on the road section from Arevik recreation zone to Shoghakat community.
The Prime Minister welcomed the participants and congratulated them on overcoming the regional qualification stage and getting the opportunity to participate in the final stage. Nikol Pashinyan emphasized the need to promote a healthy lifestyle among society and in that context emphasized the importance of holding the amateur tournament "The Prime Minister's Cup of the Republic of Armenia" in various sports.
The participants of the tournament thanked for holding such events, shared their impressions.
Prime Minister Pashinyan also answered the questions of the attendees, touched on the organization and holding of competitions, the spread and development of different sports.
It was noted that for the purpose of organizing the tournament and the implementation of preparatory work by schoolchildren, the supply of bicycles to public educational institutions in the regions of Armenia and the city of Yerevan began on September 6.
As of now, the following number of bicycles have been distributed: Armavir region: 198, Aragatsotn region: 168, Kotayk: 138, Vayots Dzor: 68, Gegharkunik: 194, Ararat: 182, Lori: 186, Tavush: 116, Syunik: 162, Shirak: 232.
The delivery process is ongoing. The tournament is held between teams of 10-12th grade students of public educational institutions. In the 1st stage of the tournament, the teams of secondary, high schools and colleges of regions and the city of Yerevan took part, and in the 2nd stage, the collective teams of the schools or colleges that took 1st-3rd places in the 1st stage (the team includes 1 boy, 1 girl) took place.
The school teams and participants who won the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in the final round will be awarded with certificates, cups, medals and cash prizes. The 1st place school will be awarded 4,000,000 AMD, 2nd place - 2,500,000 AMD, 3rd place - 1,500,000 AMD.
Physical education teachers of the winning school will also be awarded: 1st place - 700,000 AMD, 2nd place - 500,000 AMD and 3rd place - 300,000 AMD.
Students of the winning cycling teams will also be awarded cash prizes. 1st place: 2 participants: AMD 150,000 each, 2nd place: 2 participants: AMD 100,000 each, 3rd place: 2 participants: AMD 75,000 each (taxes, duties and mandatory fees are not included).
