In Gegharkunik region, on the section of the road from the Arevik recreation zone to the Shoghakat community, the amateur cross-country cycling tournament "Prime Minister's Cup of the Republic of Armenia" was held, which was attended by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Mrs. Anna Hakobyan. Nikol Pashinyan also participated in the bicycle race, accompanying the participating students by bicycle from the start to the finish line.
The tournament was held between the collective teams of 10-12th grade students of Armenian public educational institutions, the collective teams of schools or colleges that took 1st-3rd place in the 1st round took part in the final stage.
An award ceremony followed. The school teams and participants who won the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in the final round were awarded with certificates, cups, medals and cash prizes. The 1st place school was awarded 4,000,000 AMD, the 2nd place - 2,500,000 AMD, the 3rd place - 1,500,000 AMD. Physical education teachers of the school were also awarded. 1st place: 700,000 AMD, 2nd place: 500,000 AMD and 3rd place: 300,000 AMD. The students of the winning cycling teams were also awarded with cash prizes. 1st place: 2 participants: AMD 150,000 each, 2nd place: 2 participants: AMD 100,000 each, 3rd place: 2 participants: AMD 75,000 each.
Nikol Pashinyan handed over the prizes to the winners.
In his speech, the Prime Minister congratulated the winners of the tournament and all the participants for their participation. "Our goal is one: we want to promote a healthy lifestyle in all possible ways. Along with promoting a healthy lifestyle, we want to promote the logic of teamwork. Now, among schoolchildren, we don't have individual competition tournaments in the "Prime Minister's Cup" format. Both table tennis, cross-country running, and cycling are all based on team logic," said the Head of Government, adding that its main goal is to develop team spirit, team method of struggle, cooperation and mutual assistance among schoolchildren, as well as also among the public.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of holding tournaments also in the context of the development of settlements, since it brings vitality to the life of the settlement and community. "It is important that we do not concentrate everything in Yerevan, other big cities or big settlements. And it is important that we try to take the geography of the "Prime Minister's Cup" to the regions as much as possible, which is also in the logic of territorial proportional development." It was also mentioned that this year it is planned to hold an original song school festival in Jermuk.
Nikol Pashinyan once again congratulated the participants and thanked the organizers of the tournament and teachers for the work.
