Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan introduced newly appointed minister Srbuhi Galyan to the staff of the Ministry of Justice.
First of all, the Prime Minister thanked Grigor Minasyan for his work as the Minister of Justice, emphasized that significant and visible reforms were implemented in the justice sector during his tenure, including the use of new forms of preventive measures, developments in the direction of digitalization, infrastructure, structural and substantive reforms, legislative reforms, etc. "I must also emphasize and give special words of appreciation for the legal accompaniment of the process by the Ministry of Justice in the delimitation process between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan," added Nikol Pashinyan.
According to the Prime Minister, in fact, in recent years, mostly during the tenure of Mr. Minasyan, most of the expectations of the government have been met by the justice sector, the legal system, which were unprecedented in their scope and form. "Perhaps the time has come, or it has passed, perhaps in the perception of many, in the perception of the public, that all these actions should give results," said Nikol Pashinyan.
In this context, the Prime Minister also emphasized. "Naturally, I ask myself what is the reason for us to make so many changes and investments, but still, that feeling, expectations and institutional trust are not at a sufficient level. I must honestly say that one of the reasons for this, in my opinion, is the following: We in the Republic of Armenia really want to have justice and fairness, that is, we want to have fairness and justice not only formally, but we really want to have justice and fairness. We really want to have an independent judicial system, because we never wanted, we do not want and we will never want to have a puppet judicial system, because it is against the value system that is ours, which we have adopted and with the advocacy of which we have also taken over the responsibility for the administration of the Republic of Armenia. We don't want a judiciary that is the henchman of the executive or anybody else, but we want a judiciary that is capable of introducing standards, including those related to fairness and justice."
Nikol Pashinyan expressed belief that the development of the country is simply not possible without the implementation of institutional justice. In this context, the Prime Minister wished the newly appointed minister Srbuhi Galyan success. "She is not a new person in the system and once worked in the Ministry of Justice, and of course in the position of Deputy Prosecutor General she was directly related to the agendas that I spoke about a little while ago," said the Prime Minister and added that by analyzing all these situations with the newly appointed minister, it is agreed that these agendas need to be worked on as a matter of urgency, which means that causal relationships need to be understood more intensively. "In this regard, I hope that during Mrs. Galyan's term of office, the Government will be able to address these problems more deeply and comprehensively or continue them, because we do not know yet, it is possible that we have almost reached our goal and maybe one last effort is required. to achieve that goal," Nikol Pashinyan said.
Former Minister of Justice Grigor Minasyan thanked the Prime Minister for his trust and high evaluation. "I also want to thank the Government for your support and guidance over the years. It gave us an extra incentive and motivation, because we knew that when a package, reform or idea was ready to be put on your table, it was definitely approved if it was substantiated, valuable and packed with result-based indicators," Minasyan said. He also congratulated the newly appointed minister Srbuhi Galyan and wished that the high benchmark set by the Prime Minister during his tenure, the standard of fairness and justice, would eventually become within reach for the people.
In her turn, Srbuhi Galyan thanked the Prime Minister for his trust and noted that she treats the Ministry with care, so she came here with love, a high sense of responsibility and willingness to give new momentum to all the programs that are currently on the Government's agenda. "I hope that the ministry, in the person of the professional staff, together with me, will have the opportunity to provide an expected, perceptible and tangible result for our public in all areas under the ministry's authority," said Srbuhi Galyan. She also assured that she will spare no effort in strengthening the institutional foundations of the fight against corruption, ensuring the continuity of judicial reforms and providing proper legal support in all processes arising from the Government program.
