A regular Cabinet meeting took place today, chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
The Government adopted a decision conditioned by the necessity to implement the projects considered urgent in Lori, Shirak and Syunik regions, to reduce the credit and grant programs assigned to the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure. By the decision, 5,305,396.3 thousand drams will be allocated to the reserve fund of the government from the co-financing funds allocated by the state budget to the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure for credit and grant measures. According to the decision, 248 million AMD will be allocated for urgent projects in the regions. Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan noted that 18 million 970 thousand drams will be allocated to the Lori region, about 150 million drams to the Shirak region, 51 million drams to Syunik region and 28 million dram to the Regional Development Fund.
The Government approved the Police Reform Implementation Strategy and the resulting action plan for 2024-2026. As a result, the new Police Reform Strategy will be approved, the priorities in the sector, the main developments in the field will be outlined and the measures to be implemented in order to achieve success in the direction of the identified priorities in the next three years under the guidance of the body that develops the sector policy, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will be clearly defined. The strategy, in particular, proposes a new approach for prompt and efficient service to the public. It is planned to create a unified operational control center of the republic, 112, within the framework of which the service of calls to 911, 102, 103 with separate telephone numbers will be stopped, and the citizen will receive his call service from one telephone number, from one point, with fast service, which is planned to be implemented in 2026. In the context of the strategy, the minister also emphasized the topic of crime prevention, which envisages the development of a comprehensive action plan for crime prevention. Nikol Pashinyan also highlighted the proper implementation of the reforms under the strategy.
The Government adopted a decision, which is to ensure the continuity of repair works of some parts of the interstate, republican roads. According to the decision, it is planned to allocate 1 billion 260 million drams to the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure for the medium repair of the national roads with a total length of 24.3 km and the installation of 0.64 km metal barriers.
The government made redistribution in the state budget and made amendments and additions to the previously adopted decision in order to improve the situation caused by the floods and reduce possible future risks. Accordingly, it is proposed to organize and implement emergency anti-flooding measures, which will be aimed at cleaning the riverbeds from garbage, stones, trees growing in the beds, and restoring the ecosystem of the riverbeds.
