Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan introduced the newly appointed Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia, Artur Poghosyan, to the members of the board and staff of the Investigative Committee.

The Prime Minister first thanked the former Chairman of the Investigative Committee, Argishti Kyaramyan, for the work he did in his position. “In recent days, when I introduce our newly appointed colleagues and talk about our colleagues who have left their positions, I also note that our colleagues have become very experienced at a young age. This leads to the conclusion that we can say about at least the majority of our colleagues that their potential for being in the public service is not at all exhausted, especially in our current reality, when experienced people are needed for the further development of our state,” the Prime Minister said.

Nikol Pashinyan congratulated Artur Poghosyan and wished him success in his position as the Chairman of the Investigative Committee. “Mr. Poghosyan is not a new person for the Government, the investigative, and the judicial system. I have known Mr. Poghosyan from the position of Head of the NSS Investigative Department. Of course, I must also wish him success in this responsible work, because today the Investigative Committee is, in fact, investigating 99 percent of the criminal cases of our country, with the opportunities and consequences arising from this. Yes, it is a very great opportunity, a very great lever, but on the other hand, it is a very great responsibility in our current conditions, in the conditions of our current problems, in the conditions of the problem with the perception of justice and fairness,” the Prime Minister noted.

According to the Prime Minister, it is also important for justice and fairness to be clearly formulated, so that there are no misunderstandings there. "Establishing the standard of justice and fairness is a very important function, and it is difficult to underestimate the role of the Investigative Committee in this function. Understandably, it was not easy to make that political decision to concentrate 99 percent of the investigative function in one body, because it was understandable what concerns and fears there were, but I am convinced that the right decision was made. And also, from the point of view of establishing the standard of justice and fairness, a very important decision was made," the Prime Minister said.

Argishti Kyaramyan thanked the Prime Minister for the high trust he has shown in him. “I am very grateful for that and I am grateful that you have given me the opportunity to serve my homeland. I would also like to thank my colleagues of the Investigative Committee for carrying out joint service during this time, for being by my side in difficult situations and for providing and implementing joint service with me.” Argishti Kyaramyan also congratulated Artur Poghosyan on his appointment.

In turn, Artur Poghosyan thanked the Prime Minister for the trust and noted: “This is an opportunity to serve our country, people and implement the tasks that have been outlined and that our society is waiting for.” The newly appointed Chairman of the Investigative Committee assured that the Investigative Committee has sufficient potential and will to implement these tasks.
