A consultation was held under the leadership of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, during which the current situation and implementation strategy of the "Academic City" project were discussed.
Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan presented the work carried out so far within the framework of the project: the concept of the master plan of the "Academic City" was developed, a general survey of the site, the necessary geological and geotechnical surveys were carried out, etc.
It was emphasized that within the framework of the agreements signed with international partners, it is planned to develop the management model of the "Academic City", develop a strategic framework for urban development, and carry out an assessment of the general transport and mobility framework. In particular, within the framework of the development of the management model of the "Academic City", training of the management staff will be carried out, a technology cluster management model will be developed, a roadmap for the merger of universities and scientific research institutes will be developed, support for the promotion of innovations will be provided. Within the framework of the development of the strategic framework for urban development, work will be carried out on strategic communication, research on social infrastructure, analysis of economic trends, etc.
Work will continue on finalizing the master plan of the "Academic City" and designing the buildings. The part of the above-mentioned work, which relates to the development of the necessary documents within the framework of the legislation of our country, will be carried out by local partners.
It was noted that work is being carried out to hold an international conference within the framework of the "Academic City" program in May-June 2025.
Next, a discussion was held on the presented strategy. The issues under discussion included the selection of a local partner who, in cooperation with GMP, will develop the master plan and zoning project of the “Academic City” urban program, the design of the road network and transport, engineering infrastructure and utility infrastructure, landscape organization, etc. The issues related to the railway and the format of the investment program were also discussed. It was noted that there is a need to update the concept of the “Academic City” program, in the context of which the importance of integrating the Talent Development Program was emphasized.
Within the framework of the issues discussed, the Prime Minister gave relevant instructions to the heads of the concerned departments.
