Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today visited the newly built secondary school in Gandzakar, Tavush region. The Prime Minister was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Davit Khudatyan, Governor of Tavush region Hayk Ghalumyan, and other officials.

Nikol Pashinyan toured the school and got acquainted with the created conditions. The school was built with the co-financing of the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Asian Development Bank within the framework of the Seismic Safety Improvement Program. The total cost of the program was 2 billion 58 million AMD. As a result of the implementation of the program, a high school for 480 students was built. The construction of the school started in August 2021 and was completed in November 2024. The old school was demolished and a new one was built on the site. The school has 5 buildings: an educational building, a sports hall and an event hall. The school has a separate boiler house for heating, and a 24-kilowatt solar photovoltaic station is installed on the roof. The school has two elevators and is adapted for people with mobility problems.

After the tour, the Prime Minister made a speech, in which, in particular, he noted: “I think that the education system should teach our children to live well. This is the main goal of education, which we must ensure for our children. One should learn to live well as a physicist, the second as a chemist, the third as a coach, the fourth as a hairdresser, the fifth as a businessman, the sixth as a manager, but the goal, the most important goal of the school is to teach people to live well, how to live well.”

According to the Prime Minister, with this emphasis, education should be lowered from pathos heights as much as possible and brought to the practical level of life. “This is extremely important, and this, I think, is the substantive goal of the “300 schools, 500 kindergartens” program,” said Nikol Pashinyan. Speaking about the opportunities provided by the school, the Prime Minister emphasized that the goal is also to make the school actual not only during the actual teaching process, but also after it, that is, have unlimited opportunities for creativity.

“And I am happy today, dear children, dear teachers, that you have received, in fact, an unlimited opportunity to create - to create in the field of physics, chemistry, mathematics, engineering, sports, art, literature. And I only wish you to use this opportunity to create, because it will help you to live well, because the way to overcome various problems and live well in everyday life is to create, to experience creative pleasure and to receive energy from that creation,” the Prime Minister noted.

Nikol Pashinyan thanked all partners for the implementation of the program. The Prime Minister spoke about not underestimating the contribution of each and in this context thanked all taxpayers. “I want to thank all taxpayers of the Republic of Armenia, all working, productive, legally taxed people, with the funds generated by whom this school was built and other schools are being built.”

Summing up his speech, the Prime Minister once again congratulated everyone on the construction of the school.
