Congratulations on Prosecutor’s Day and on the 102nd Anniversary of the Office of Prosecutor General.

The social expectations from the prosecutor office are higher than ever today. Through the non-violent, velvet, popular revolution of 2018 our people expressed their strong will to build a country where the rule of law is established, the principle of inevitable punishment for a crime is enforced, and which would wage an effective fight against crime, abuse and corruption. And the fulfillment of our people’s legitimate expectations largely depends on the good work of the Office of Prosecutor General.

The current period is indeed a major challenge for the prosecution service, as it is often up to you to formulate well-known truths in charges and bring them before the courts. The quality of your work shapes the people’s belief in the rule of law, democracy-based public order and justice.

Your successful performance will help us comply with the political majority’s electoral pledge as approved by the people on the return of embezzled assets. In the nearest future, the Office of Prosecutor General shall assume another key responsibility envisaged by the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On Confiscation of Ill-Earned Property.” This legislative innovation will lead to enhanced public expectations from the Office of Prosecutor-General.

Your work implies a lot of challenges. It is sometimes difficult to give well-known truths a legal wording. But this is precisely what we call talent and professionalism. Legal wording is what accurately reflects the facts: jurisprudence should be the defender of truth.

This is just the mission of the prosecutor’s office. There is no prosecution without that mission. I wish you every success in accomplishing your mission. I wish you firm determination and consistency in pursuit of your goals. I also wish good health, happiness and fortitude to your families.
