Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received a delegation of residents of Artsvashen community (Gegharkunik Marz) who were displaced on August 8, 1992 due to hostilities. Note that they staged a protest action a few days ago in front of the government building. The Premier listened to the delegation and took note of their concerns.
The Artsvashen residents advised that the State has provided three compensations since 1992, AMD 50 million twice and a lump-sum of AMD 708 million in compensation for the loss of property and housing. They noted that the Government had decided to allocate 1 million drams to each displaced family, part of which has already been disbursed. The issue of State support quotas is being raised now, and they are ready to discuss it with the Government.
Nikol Pashinyan assured that the Government will look for the ways of tackling the long-standing problem. At the same time, the Head of Government urged the people of Artsvashen to clearly formulate their expectations and submit a common view on the amount and timing of compensation.
The Prime Minister told the government officers concerned to ascertain and analyze all data available within a 20-day period. The Premier underscored that the relevant information will be analyzed, consolidated, checked and further discussed by the next meeting with Artsvashen residents.
