Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Mrs. Anna Hakobyan attended the final round of the amateur table tennis tournament "Cup of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia" at the Children's and Youth Sports School named after Ara Manukyan in Charentsavan.
Like last year, this year too amateur tournaments "Prime Minister's Cup of the Republic of Armenia" 2024 is starting with the table tennis tournament.
Nikol Pashinyan and Anna Hakobyan watched the final matches of the tournament. After the competition, the awarding ceremony took place. Before the award ceremony, certificates of appreciation were handed out.
This year, for the first time, the amateur table tennis tournament "Cup of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia" was held exclusively for schoolchildren. In general, about 45% of all schools of the republic were included in the qualifying stages of the amateur table tennis tournament "Prime Minister's Cup of the Republic of Armenia". More than 3100 students of grades 5-9 and 10-12 of 626 public educational institutions of Yerevan and regions participated in the competitions.
The prize-winners of the tournament were awarded with certificates, cups, medals, as well as cash prizes. The prize-winning schools were awarded. 1st place: 4 million AMD, 2nd place: 2,5 million AMD, 3rd place: 1,5 million AMD. Physical education teachers of the school were also awarded. 1st place: 700,000 AMD, 2nd place: 500,000 AMD, 3rd place: 300,000 AMD. The students of the winning teams of the tournament were also awarded with cash prizes. 1st place: (4 participants) AMD 150,000 each, 2nd place: (4 participants) AMD 100,000 each, 3rd place: (4 participants) AMD 75,000 each.
The Prime Minister presented prizes to the prize winners of 10-12 grade students of Vanadzor High School No. 5, Yerevan Alexander Kemurdzhian High School No. 170 and Teghut Secondary School. Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan presented awards to the winners of 5-9 grades: students of primary school #23 of Vanadzor, primary school #104 of Yerevan, secondary school #2 of Kajaran city.
After the award ceremony, Nikol Pashinyan delivered a speech and congratulated the participants on the occasion of the tournament. According to the Prime Minister, reserving the table tennis tournament only for schoolchildren was the right decision in the sense that it gave a completely different emotion and mood to the participants of the tournament. According to the Head of the Government, the tournament is also important in terms of highlighting the work of teachers, because most of the victories of students are the result of their work.
Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that these tournaments are important in the sense that they should be more and more related to education and school and added that this direction should be consistently developed, also taking into account that a healthy lifestyle is promoted with this, which is aimed at health and education and also supporting our country's sporting ambitions.
At the end of his speech, the Prime Minister thanked the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports for carrying out the organizational work at a proper level, and the Table Tennis Federation for conducting the tournament in a fair, free and transparent manner.
