Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who is in Berlin on a working visit, had a meeting with UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin.
The interlocutors discussed issues related to the development of football in Armenia. Noting that the Armenian government attaches importance to the development of football and a healthy lifestyle in our country, Nikol Pashinyan noted that the state, in cooperation with the Football Federation of Armenia, is working to improve the infrastructure.
The Prime Minister reminded that the federations of Armenia and Georgia have decided to apply to FIFA in order to jointly hold the World Youth Championship to be held in 2029. The Prime Minister expressed hope that the joint application will be approved and added that the support of UEFA is also expected in this matter.
Aleksander Čeferin noted that UEFA closely cooperates with the Football Federation of Armenia for the development and progress of football in our country. He expressed belief that the Armenian government's steps to improve the infrastructure will give a new impetus to the progress of this sport in the country. Aleksander Čeferin added that UEFA officially supports the joint bid of Armenia and Georgia to host the World Youth Championship.
The sides exchanged ideas regarding the European football championship being held in Germany.
