Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, together with his wife Anna Hakobyan, was present at the the opening of international exhibition "Mother Deity. From Anahit to Mariam" at the History Museum of Armenia. The exhibition was opened to mark the Independence Day of the Republic of Armenia.
President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan, President of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan, Head of the Prime Minister's Office Arayik Harutyunyan and other officials were also present at the event.
In an exclusive cultural event, for the first time in Armenia, the bronze head and hand preserved from the statue of Goddess Anahit dating back II-I century B.C. are exhibited. The exhibits were moved to Armenia for a temporary display for 6 months. They were combined with more than six dozen exhibits selected from the rich collection of the History Museum of Armenia, presenting the idea of the Mother Goddess from paganism to Christianity.
The exhibition is carried out with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia within the framework of the cooperation between the History Museum of Armenia and the British Museum.
The exhibition will be open until midnight on September 21.
Then, at 20:00, the national anthem of Armenia was performed in Republic Square, followed by a special concert program.
