The regular session of the Anti-Corruption Policy Council was held in the Government chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
The work carried out in the field of corruption prevention was presented.
Mariam Galstyan, acting chair of the Corruption Prevention Committee, reported on the introduction of pilot methodologies in the corruption risk assessment and management system, legislative regulations, the adoption of a legislative package in the integrity studies system, and general trends related to it. Reference was also made to the work carried out to oversee the current financial activities of parties, the legislative amendments introduced in the integrity system of persons holding public office, public servants. Details were also presented on the results of declarations, in particular, the analysis of declarations, notification processes, etc. Mariam Galstyan also presented the work carried out in the direction of digitalization, spoke about the electronic system of declarations, the financial reporting of parties, the electronic platform of the CPC, about the electronic platform for anti-corruption education.
A discussion was held on the above issues, and the council members exchanged views on the continuous development of the committee's operating mechanisms, the improvement of the integrity system, the improvement of the declaration system, and other topics.
The Prime Minister emphasized that one of the most important prerequisites for implementing anti-corruption policy is not only political will, but also the development of institutions. Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that the problem is much more global and does not concern only the Corruption Prevention Commission. According to the Prime Minister, it should also be considered in the context of the judicial system and the socio-psychological sphere. In this regard, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the anti-corruption education policy and emphasized that once strategic decisions were made to ensure communication in order to increase anti-corruption perceptions in state departments. "There is definitely a need for this, because it is very important to update people's awareness of corruption and its various manifestations every time and at a certain frequency. In this regard, I consider it important that we be able to communicate the changes in our legislation to departments, officials, and those people to whom it applies,” said Nikol Pashinyan, adding that this work should be carried out continuously.
